Who is PHMG?
PHMG (Professional Music Group) is a UK-based company that sells audio branding services to businesses around the world. They specialize in professionally recorded voiceovers, phone system hold music, and scripted call greetings designed to “enhance the customer experience” and “elevate your brand.”
They often require long-term licensing contracts—frequently 36 months or more—that bundle voice production, music licensing, and periodic script updates. Their services are marketed as a way for small to mid-sized businesses, including golf cart dealers, to sound polished and established.
But is that polish worth the price—or the commitment?
My Experience with Adam Khan and PHMG
In April 2025, I was contacted by Adam Khan, who identified himself as Senior Client Care Director at PHMG. He claimed that my company, Wickedly Awesome EV, LLC, was responsible for a past-due contract originally signed by a now-defunct company, simply because the domain name FreedomGolfCarts.com (which had since expired and redirected to our company website) was associated with us.
Let me be perfectly clear:
We never signed a contract with PHMG.
We never assumed any assets or obligations of the prior business.
We were simply using a redirected domain.
Despite repeated clarification, Adam Khan continued to contact us, send formal-sounding messages, and suggest we had some legal responsibility—all without a shred of evidence. A search of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (IARDC) shows no listing for Adam Khan as a licensed attorney.
In my opinion, the tone, frequency, and language of these communications crossed a line from customer service into misrepresentation.
We’re Not Alone: What Others Say About PHMG
While some PHMG clients have posted positive reviews, there are dozens of public complaints that echo similar frustrations—long contracts, poor communication, and aggressive retention tactics. Here are just a few examples from recent Google reviews:
“Absolutely Awful Experience – Stay Away.”
“It took numerous attempts and frustration for a year and a half before I finally received [a dashboard]. When I asked to cancel, I was told it wasn’t possible… someone literally scoffed at my situation.”
— Wilbur Helmuth, April 2025
“They resort to harassment and bullying tactics…”
“Even when the client is willing to pay $3,000 to cancel. If they don’t understand why you want to cancel, they’ll badger you endlessly.”
— John Miller, February 2025
“VERY UNETHICAL COMPANY! STAY AWAY!”
“They overpromise and underdeliver… no service for 12 months, then demand a $18,000 auto-renewal.”
— IT Devices, January 2025
“Negative one star if I could.”
“They harass and bully you into staying on their contract… What part of ‘no’ don’t they understand?”
— Nhi Ha, January 2025
“Run, do not do it.”
“They don’t do their part and expect you to pay them for three years. Horrible script writing. I had to rewrite it myself after 3 edits.”
— Emmie Limon, January 2025
These aren’t isolated complaints. They’re part of a pattern.
Better, Modern Alternatives to PHMG
In 2025, you don’t need to lock into long, expensive contracts to have professional audio or hold messaging. With the rise of AI tools, it’s never been easier—or more affordable—to handle this in-house or with a freelancer. Here are a few options golf cart dealers should explore:
- Play.ht or ElevenLabs – Use AI to generate natural-sounding voiceovers with customizable tone and pacing.
- WellSaid Labs – High-quality AI voice generation with commercial licensing options.
- Fiverr or Upwork – Hire professional voiceover artists on-demand without long-term contracts.
- Google Voice + Custom Audio Uploads – For basic greetings and hold music, most VoIP systems now allow full customization.
- Descript – Record, edit, and publish voice messages using AI-enhanced tools and overdub features.
These platforms are affordable, flexible, and you retain full control—without being locked into multi-year licensing agreements.
Considering PHMG?
If you’re a golf cart dealer looking for professional audio or call-handling solutions, I strongly recommend you research your options carefully before signing a contract with PHMG.
In my personal experience, their approach to communication and dispute handling—particularly as represented by Adam Khan—was aggressive, unclear, and unprofessional. Coupled with the volume of similar complaints online, I believe golf cart business owners deserve to know what they’re getting into.
There are better, smarter alternatives available today that put you in control—without the frustration, inflexibility, or pressure.
